April 17, 1939 - October 13, 2014Virginia Ruth (Cohn) Lake, a long-time resident of Universal City, entered into eternal rest Monday the 13th of October in Converse, Texas. Ginger, as she was known, was 75.Born to the late William Taylor and M. Ruth (Blasingame) Cohn on April 17, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Ginger graduated from Midwest City High School in 1957 and studied business before marrying the late Joseph Lake in 1958 and starting her family. Ginger was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and cherished the time spent with her sisters learning, socializing, encouraging and serving. The love and laughter her sisters brought to her life was immeasurable. She enjoyed painting and sketching, knitting, crocheting, playing the piano and singing. She was known for the creative scrapbooks she compiled for her sorority sisters.Until she fell ill, she volunteered at the Universal City Public Library and with the Greater Randolph Area Services Program (GRASP), as well as assisting friends in need. Ginger is survived by daughter Gina and Andy Kleindorfer of Bloomington, Ind.; daughter LeAnna and Darrell Kosub of Bulverde; and son Douglas Lake and Kristy Lange of Lake Charles, La.; grandsons Tony Doglione, Nicholas Kleindorfer, Joshua Kosub, Shiloh Lake and Dylan Lake; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donald Cohn; and two grandsons.The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses in the oncology unit at Northeast Methodist Hospital, especially Joan and Bev.A memorial service to honor Ginger is set for 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Road, San Antonio. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014.
