Theresa Herrera

Mrs. Theresa Blackburn Herrera peacefully passed away in her home in Converse, Texas January 15, 2016. She was 93. An only child born to Mr. and Mrs. John and Lucille Blackburn, in Canton, Ohio on April 14, 1922. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Wiggins, Mississippi. She played saxophone in a traveling all girls orchestra and graduated from Wiggins High School in 1939. She was a graduate of Bowling Green Business School and worked civil service at Kessler Air Force Base. She continued to work civil service work at Randolph Air Force Base, where she retired after 27 years. She had been a resident of Converse, Texas for over 55 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Rafael (Johnny) of 71 years and her son Anthony Herrera. Mrs. Herrera is survived by her children; Gloria Alford, Carmen Herrera, Ralph (Herrera) Blackburn, Maria Herrera Orr and husband Ed, and John (Herrera) Blackburn and wife Charmaine, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Services will be Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd. San Antonio, TX 78239.
