Sylvia Walden

May 22, 1921 — March 24, 2022

Sylvia Kelsey Walden went to the arms of her savior Thursday, March 24.

She is survived by a son, Donald W. Walden; a daughter, Dawna R. Walden; a granddaughter, Lisa Walden; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia “Pax” Gonzales. Her husband, Richmon W. Walden, died in 2015.

Sylvia was dedicated to her church and loved to travel. She joined the Church of God in 1933 and at her passing was the oldest member of the church in Texas. Her pastor, Alan Mack, called her a faithful member. While a teenager, she sang for revivals and later taught Sunday School and worked at church youth camps.

She and her husband traveled extensively. As a soldier, he was stationed in France and Germany, and she joined him, and they traveled around Europe. After he retired, they traveled by motor home around the United States, visiting every region of the country. She also visited Israel four times, including one time with her daughter, Dawna. On two of those trips, she also visited Egypt and Greece.
