Sherry was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on October 25, 1956, to Richard and Patricia Johnson. She was a faithful daughter, sister, aunt, and friend . Sherry loved her family and they meant everything to her. She had no children of her own but loved all her nieces and nephews and her greatest passion was teaching them how to cook.
She is preceded in death by her father, Richard E. Johnson Sr, mother, Patricia L. Kaough Johnson, brothers, Richard E. Johnson Jr. and Michael E. Johnson, niece, Cera A. Lodge and nephews, Zachary B. Lodge and Kameron C. Prescott. She is survived by siblings, Debra (Roy) Jimenez, Gary A. Johnson, Nancy (Ernest) Castillo; step-sister, Maranda Lee; nieces and nephews, Rebecca (Brian) Lodge, Brenda (Irvin) Hollowell, Ronnie (Nicole) Jimenez, Rubi Prescott (Nathan), Ernest Castillo Jr, Christopher Gonzales, Logan Johnson, Haley Lee, Mercedes (Tyler) Warneke, Maylayasia (Miguel) Quiroz, Marissa (Colton) Hopper, Andrew (Cecilia) Johnson; and 20 great nieces and nephews, Jahrid, Marcus, Sam, Mya, Alley, Arya, Brycen, Abrianna, Clara, Breilyn, Lillian, Raymundo, Ezekiel, Ronan, Alexandria, Araceli, Zechariah, Isaac, Violette and Gabrielle.
Sherry was a graduate of South San High School in San Antonio, Texas. Sherry worked many jobs, she was a Special Ed Teacher in Deridder, Louisiana before moving to Colorado and becoming a Librarian at the Denver University Law School Library. She then began her career with the Federal Government where she worked in the Radiation Oncology Department at Fitzsimmons Army Community Hospital until it closed and was transferred to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. She began in the Hematology/Oncology Department then transferring to the Pulmonary Department before retiring in 2016. Sherry worked for 28 years in Civil Service. Sherry enjoyed her retirement taking care of her great-nieces and nephews when she could. She loved to have them over so she could spoil them rotten.
