Galen Gene Dornbusch was born in San Antonio, Texas to Joseph Martin Dornbusch and Doris Lee (Carrell) Dornbusch. He is survived by his aforementioned parents, his brother, Ernest Martin Dornbusch, his fiancé, Kelly Wacikowski, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
He received a Junior Second Degree in Judo, Awarded Silver Sneaker from the Governor of Utah, awards from the Tower's of Parks Lane & ARC American Retirement Corporation for saving a life and a graduate of Judson High School. During his service in the Navy from October 2010 - April 2021, he reported to the USS John C Sterris (CVN74), transferred to Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, FL and then transferred to the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN77).
Along with multiple unit and campaign awards, Petty Officer Dornbusch personal awards include: The Navy Marine Corp Achievement medal (2), Navy Good Conduct Medal (3), and The Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. He is qualified as Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.
A Visitation Service will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10:00am with a Funeral Service at 11:00am. Burial arrangements will be made with Fort Sam National Cemetery at a later date and time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to a charity of your choice in Galen's honor.
