Rose Marie De Hoyos, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.

She was known for her kind, gentle, and loving nature.

Rose was born on December 10, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas.  She was the Valedictorian of Sidney Lanier High School and went on to receive her BS degree in Education from Trinity University in San Antonio.

Rose valued education and dedicated herself to others through her career as a teacher.  While in college she worked at the Mexican Christian Institute (later called Inman Christian Center) and later taught Pre-K and Kindergarten at Edge-wood. She retired from NISD where she taught English as a Second Language.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Sanchez Jr., and mother, Virginia Sanchez (Castanon). She is survived by her brother, Roland Sanchez (Elva); daughter Cynthia Matjasko (Andrew); son Steven De Hoyos (Ann Marraccini); son David DeHoyos (Adela); beloved grandchildren, Alena, Lee, and Lucas De Hoyos; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Rose will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Services for Rose De Hoyos will take place on March 23, 2024, with Visitation at 10:00 am and Memorial Service at 11:00 at La Trinidad United Methodist Church, 300 San Fernando St., San Antonio, Texas. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on March 25, 2024, at 10:00am at Chapel Hill Memorial Park 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd. San Antonio, Texas.
