Romelia Cortina Sifuentes passed away peacefully in her sleep on the 31st of July in her home in Selma, Tx. She was born in Eagle pass to Antonio and Eloisa Cortina. She had three brothers, Antonio, Miguel, and Hector. As well as six sisters, Eva, Lidia, Armadina, Margarita, Rosalinda, and Silvia. Margarita passed shortly after birth; Rosalinda at 5 years of age of Leukemia. They are now all together again along with one of her favorite nephews, Ramon "Butch" Lopez, and niece Ysella Lopez.
My Mother enjoyed being a mother, supporting my two brothers: Ramon Jr., Manuel, and myself. She was thrilled when her nephews and nieces visited her. Her grandsons were a joy and she especially go a kick when her "kids" from her catechism classes came up to her after mass and introduced her to their families.
Most of all my mother loved dancing and singing. This all came naturally to her as did her sense of humor and her beautiful smile. She might have had Alzheimer's, but she never forgot how to smile or laugh or say her prayers.
A huge thank you to Opus Care, Brandy, Catherine, Jeff, Brad, Michaela, Nidia, Terry, Rebecca, Brenda and a big hug to Rodrigo. God Bless.
Words cannot express my deep gratitude to Hector and Vicente Escobedo and especially Danny Lopez and Elyssa Tamayo, my Rocks.
All Praise and glory to Our God for He is Good.
