Robert Duane Daniel, age 59, passed away on December 2, 2018, at Northeast Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
Robert is survived by his wife, Irma Duenez Daniel, of San Antonio, Texas; his daughter, Alysa Daniel, of Houston, Texas; and his son, Joshua Daniel, of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by his sister Beth McGowan and husband George; sisters-in-law Norma Daniel, Laura Daniel; nieces and nephews, Gavin Daniel and wife Dana; Ginger Daniel and wife Caitlyn; Jill Vosburg and husband Caleb; Melanie Johnson and husband D.J.; Emily Jo Daniel; Amanda Wheeler and husband Steven; Jason Nichols; Sara Beth McGowan and wife Erica, and many grand nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and older brothers, Johnny Daniel, of Lubbock, Texas, and Bruce Daniel, of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Robert was born in Lubbock, Texas, to parents John R and Hazel Daniel. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in English and Biology, and earned a Master's in Education from Sul Ross State University. He enjoyed an extensive career in education spanning 25+ years as a teacher and academic dean.
Robert was a devoted husband and loving father. He married Irma Duenez in 1984 and the couple had 2 children who were the most important part of his life. His hobbies included camping, gardening, and cooking at home. His family and friends will always remember him as a dedicated family man, a well-respected educator, and a pragmatic leader. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life is scheduled for December 7, from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, at 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Road, San Antonio, Texas, 78239. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Robert's life.
