Pablo Silva, age 86, of San Antonio, passed away in the early evening hours of Friday, October 23, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family. Pablo was born on April 29, 1934 in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico to the late Francisco Silva Y Tirado and Matilde Rivera Y Fernandez.
Pablo married Carmen Maria Camacho Y Martinez on December 14, 1957 in Queens, New York. Pablo and Carmen’s marriage began in nerve racking fashion as Pablo was late to his own wedding while he was trying to make his mustache perfect for his waiting bride. This tenacity to be the best he could for Carmen carried on throughout their marriage. For the next 62 years, Pablo and Carmen would raise a family, support each other through life’s up’s and down’s and live a lifetime of memories that will live on for generations.
Those who knew Pablo will always remember him as Mr. Fix-it. He had a knack for being able to tinker with any project placed in front of him until it would work, usually better than brand new. Pablo was a creator and inventor by nature, he could never sit still without thinking of his next project or the one that didn’t go as smoothly as planned. He had a dedication to his family like no other, a dedication that began while his children were very young. When his son was only a year old, Pablo lovingly built him a rocking chair, the first of countless projects he would take on for and with his son as he grew up.
Pablo will also be remembered for his sense of humor. Once he began, his infectious laugh would quickly fill the room. He had a love for people and singing. Pablo was strong in his faith and taught his children to love their country and their God and appreciate all that they are given. Pablo was a member of Union Christian Church in Baldwin, New York, El Pabellon and Oasis De Amor in San Antonio.
Pablo is survived by his wife, Carmen; son, Paul Silva, and wife Marina Leonardos; daughters, Raquel Silva Perez of Long Island, New York and Andrea Silva of San Antonio; grandchildren, Anthony Campos, and wife Christine Kurbs, Paul Silva III, and Julio Perez, Jr; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Kristian; sisters, Catalina Silva Y Rivera and Carmen “Cambu” Saez Y Rivera; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.
A Visitation will be held at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Private family services will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Reverend Carlos Vargas officiating. Pablo will be laid to rest next to his daughter, Sylvia, in New York, at a later time.
