Oralia C. Gutierrez, 80, of San Antonio, Texas, passed peacefully at home, on Thursday, May 26, 2022 surrounded by family.
She was born to Pantaleon Chapa and Guadalupe Beltran Chapa in Cotulla, Texas on January 23, 1942.
As a child Oralia moved to Hebbronville, Texas and later to Bruni, Texas where she attended school until her eighth grade year. It was there in Bruni that she met the love of her life, Roberto. They courted for many years and were married on February 12, 1961 at Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville, Texas. Oralia was a Beautician for many years and was very active in her home church at St.Bridget Catholic Mission in Oilton, Texas. It was here that she found joy volunteering and being involved in various capacities. She was a youth instructor teaching catholic education. She was also a mentor to many youth over the years. In her pass time she enjoyed traveling, cooking and most especially visiting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Roberto M. Guiterrez, Sr.;son, Roberto M. Guiterrez Jr. and wife Linh; daughter, Magda Rubi Carruthers and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Amber Carruthers, Cassidy Carruthers, Dylan Carruthers, and Sean Carruthers; brothers, Onofre Chapa and Guadalupe Chapa; sisters, Ofelia Vasquez and Odilia Hernandez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pantaleon and Guadalupe Chapa.
Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM, Wednesday June 15, 2022 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 16, 2022 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Aguilar officiating. A Service of Committal will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at Shelter #1.
