Norman Schell

May 17, 1919 — June 30, 2021

Norman Eugene Schell died on June 30, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 102.

He was born in New Albany, Indiana on May 17, 1919 to his parents Clara and Irvin Schell.  Norman attended public school in Indiana and universities in Kentucky and California.  He married Viola Williamson, his high school sweetheart, and their marriage lasted 16 days short of 59 years.

He is survived by his children Ivan Schell (Ann), Louisville, Ky.; Eric Schell, (Barbara) San Antonio; and Linda Hettel (Bob), El Granada, Ca; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Norman was a member of the Methodist Church for over 40 years and a member of the Southern Baptist Church since 1977 (serving as deacon in Kentucky and California).   For over 30 years he has been an active member of the Gideons International.

His training included Masters degrees in chemical engineering, biochemistry and public administration, with postings at the DuPont Power Plant during WW II, and environmental program directors in state governments in Kentucky, Arizona, and California before retiring in the 70’s.
