Neil A. Rognholt

May 4, 1945 — February 19, 2024

San Antonio, Texas

Neil Arthur Rognholt was a compassionate individual, esteemed as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He peacefully departed this life in the comfort of his home, surrounded by loved ones, on February 19th, 2024, at the age of 78.

Neil Arthur Rognholt was born on May 4th, 1945, in Mondovi, Wisconsin, to Jon and Elsie Rognholt. Growing up on a 40-acre farm in Gilmanton, Wisconsin, Neil was the youngest of seven siblings. In 1965, he was drafted into the Army and stationed in San Antonio, TX. During his time there, he made a trip to North St. Mary’s Roller Rink. Attempting to show off his skating skills, he tried to do the splits. Although he successfully executed the move, he ended up tearing his pants. This memorable encounter is where he met his future wife, Donna Mathis. Their love story blossomed, leading to their wedding in October 1967. Their family expanded with the birth of their first child, LaDonna, in 1968, followed by twins Mary and Monica in 1970.

Neil dedicated himself to supporting his family as a carpenter and painter while pursuing his associate's degree. Despite his busy schedule, he prioritized spending quality time with his loved ones. Neil's passion for bowling was well-known among those close to him, and it soon became a beloved family activity. They frequented Astro Bowl, where Neil eventually took on a part-time role. Known for his strong work ethic, kindness, fun-loving nature, and caring demeanor, Neil always ensured his family's well-being was a top priority.

Neil's parents, Jon and Elsie, his sisters Judy and Willa, his brothers Jon and Gary, and his grandson John have all passed away. He is survived by his wife Donna, his sisters Donna and Sandy, his daughters LaDonna, Mary, and Monica, along with their respective sons-in-law, Robert, TJ, and Victor. Neil's grandchildren include Ashley, Cassie, Phillip, Brittany, Ryan, Dakota, and Braxton. His great-grandchildren are Aubrey, A’siah, Allie, Able, Nicole, A’minah, Avery, A’liyah, A’miyah, and John
