Neil Robert Gilman, aged 41 years, passed away January 15th, 2015. Born February 16th, 1973 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Neil graduated from Duquense University in Pennsylvania and worked as an officer with the Bexar County Department of Juvenile Supervision. His family and friends will always remember him for his wit, compassion, and love of sports. They, like Neil, took solace and inspiration from the recent comments by the late sportscaster, Stuart Scott, who said, "When you die from cancer, it doesn't mean you lose to cancer, you beat cancer! By how you live, why you live, and by the manner in which you live!" Neil is survived by his wife, Sherraine, son Bakari, parents Edward and Marilyn Gilman, stepmother, Barbara, daughters Safiya Doyal, Caitlin and Leila. Also, his brothers Gary and Steve Gilman and families along with 2 grandchildren. There will be a visitation at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., San Antonio, Texas, 78239, Monday, January 19th, 2015 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. A memorial service will be held at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 1310 Pecan Valley Rd., San Antonio, Texas, on January 20th, 2015, at 11:00am.
