Nancy Spencer

Nancy B. Spencer (Stansell), peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, August 12, 2021, she was 66 years old. Nancy was born on Friday, November 5, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Samuel and Johnnie Mae Stansell, Nancy was the first of eight children, three brothers and five sisters. She received her high school diploma from Jean Ribault, Sr., High School, as part of the graduating class of 1972.

Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Malachi Spencer, Jr., shortly after graduation, and moved away from Jacksonville. Nancy was a homemaker, a housewife and mother of two boys, Malachi III, and Michael.  Nancy and her boys traveled with her military husband throughout the years until retirement, and settled down in San Antonio, Texas, making it their home. Nancy and Malachi, Jr., were married for over 40 years.

Nancy is preceded in death by her youngest son, Michael Spencer on May 8, 2021 and father, Samuel Leonard Stansell, Sr., and mother, Johnnie Mae Stansell.

Survivors include her husband, Malachi Spencer, Jr., son, Malachi Spencer, III (his wife Melissa Lopez-Spencer), their children, Samiah L. Ricks (her wife Shanika Ricks), Dominic T. Lopez, and Maliyah Y. Spencer, Michael’s children, Samantha Spencer, Jazmine T. Spencer, and Michael L. Spencer, Jr., great-grandchildren, Demetrius Carroll, Jhenae A. Coleman, and Jesius R. Spencer, siblings, Herman Miller (Brenda), Samuel L. Stansell, III (Tiffany), Adrian Stewart, Cynthia Upson, Darlene Small (Edward) Kendra N. Sims (William), aunts and uncles, Glenda Stansell, and Ronald C. Stansell, as well as a host of, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Visitation will be held at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will also be held at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. The Burial will follow at the Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
