Michelle Clara Thomas, age 47, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away in the late evening hours of Friday, August 28, 2020 at Methodist Medical Center in San Antonio, with her loving mother and family by her side. Michelle was born on July 8, 1973 in Bad-Kissingen, Germany to Earl Curtis and Brigitte Eva Spieske Thomas.
Michelle graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1992, where she was a standout student and star athlete. She learned the skills and work ethic to earn a chance to play basketball at Texas Tech University. Michelle was a proud member of the Texas Tech Women’s Basketball National Championship Team in 1993 under legendary coach, Martha Sharp. It was as a member of this team that Michelle forged lifetime friendships and lived memories that only those few will truly know and cherish.
Following her basketball career, Michelle enrolled in Texas Tech School of Law where she earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. Following law school, Michelle dedicated her life to education and teaching others by becoming an English teacher. Those who knew Michelle best will always remember a woman with an infectious smile who never met a stranger and was universally loved by most; she was a woman who knew what she wanted in life and worked to accomplish her dreams.
