Mary Boatner

Mary Annis Boatner was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 26th, at the age of 85. Mary was born in Myrtle, Mississippi to Virgie Mae and Marvin Cooper Rossell. She grew up in rural Union County, Mississippi where, in 1946, she graduated from high school at the age of 16 and married Fances Durant Boatner; and she worked as a seamstress in a shirt factory in New Albany, Mississippi. The Family moved to Texas in 1954 where Mary trained as a hairdresser, working in that profession for most of her life. Mary was a founding member of the Converse First Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary was a kind and gentle spirit who adored her family. She had an undying sense of humor that sustained her even in the most difficult of times. Mary was devoted to her spirituality and was a follower of Jesus Christ. She personified what it means to be a Christian by living her life based on the teachings of her Lord and Savior. Mary was one of those rare souls that truly lived her life without judgment and embraced everyone she knew with unconditional love and acceptance. She had a grateful heart and lived a life full of appreciation and joy, no matter the circumstances. Mary is survived by her three children: David (and wife Mary), Cheryl (and husband Edwin), Stephanie (and husband Michael); by ten grandchildren: Michael, Darby, Damon, Lisa, Cooper, Jennifer, Alyssa, Rachel, Mycaela and Logan; and by ten great-grandchildren: Garrett, Yates, Emma, Maddie, Ryan, Charlie, Carter, Noah, Mason, and Kyle. Also surviving are her brother, Darrell Rossell (and wife Martha), and her sister-in-law Rudell Murry; along with many nephews, nieces, friends and church members. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 30th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., Converse, Tx. 78239. A funeral service will be held, also at Chapel Hill, on Friday, July 31 at 11:00 am, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
