Marion Kneeland

May 13, 1921 — October 3, 2015

Marion Kneeland, 94, has left this world for the peace of Heaven. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut to Frederick and Gladys (Fifield) Hebbe, and spent most of her life in the Hartford area. She met her husband, Kenneth Kneeland, toward the end of World War II while he was a sailor assigned to the New London Submarine Base and they married in 1945. They settled in Glastonbury, Connecticut until Ken retired in 1979 and they moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida. After more than 20 years of happy retirement in Florida, they moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2001 to be with their son, Kurt. Marion was predeceased by an infant daughter, Karen, in 1963, her daughter-in-law, Linda, in 2004, and her husband, Kenneth, in 2005. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Kurt and Jackie, and Mark and Kat; grandsons Kris and Mike (Lillie); and great grandson William. She is also survived by two step-sons in California, George (Linda) and Bob (Jackie) and their families. She also leaves behind her very much appreciated long-term nurse, Ray. Marion was first and foremost a mother and homemaker, but she also spent many years as an executive secretary, first for insurance and bank executives in Hartford, and later after her children were grown, for the town of Glastonbury. She had many life-long friends, most of whom have pre-deceased her, with whom she enjoyed socializing and playing cards. At her request, there will be no formal ceremony. The family will have an informal gathering following her interment with her husband at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., San Antonio, Tex. 78239.
