Maria Munoz

Maria Elena Rios Munoz was born July 22, 1934 in New Braunfels Texas to Andres & Asencion Rios as one of 9 children. Maria Munoz entered the gates of heaven on March 17, 2023 from San Antonio, Texas, where she had been under peaceful hospice care.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Andrea, Leonor, Consuelo, Asusena, Candelaria, Esperansa, Andres Jr. (Andrew), Leonor(Masie). Maria is survived by her son Alfred Munoz, and numerous nieces and nephews.

As a single working mom, she enthusiastically balanced her priorities. She was constantly on the move between work, son’s activities and church. Maria was born in New Braunfels, then moved to San Antonio as a child She graduated from Fox Tech high school in 1952 as an outstanding member of the school band. After high school, she joined the Frost bank accounting team.

Her attention to detail and deep understanding of accounting principles led her to leadership level positions before retiring after a successful and dutiful career. Throughout her life she committed herself to the service of the Lord. She remained an active member at the Church of the Salvation Army. She loved to share her faith in the Lord and enjoyed playing the tambourine when the opportunity arose. Over the years, she gave of her time as Bible school teacher, Women Ministries, League of Mercy, numerous community outreaches and an avid representative of the San Antonio Salvation Army Corp. For a time, she gave her accounting expertise to the San Antonio Salvation Army Corp administrative offices.

Maria will be greatly missed but her memory will forever be in our hearts.
