Maria del Socorro Arroyo, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the age of 68. She was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on December 24, 1952 to Jose Arroyo and Maria de Jesus Medrano.
Being the eldest child, Maria had to quit school at an early age to work and help her mother care for her siblings. She had hoped to finish her education. Her interests were mostly in medicine, astrology, historical figures, and crime mysteries.
She migrated to the United States, with her husband, in 1985. She humbly worked as a house cleaner, babysitter, and as a community representative, for 13 years, in a Parent Center at the Valerio Elementary School in Van Nuys California. She received many awards and recognitions for her work in the community.
She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Jose G. Rubalcava; children, Tanya Flowers, Michelle Rubalcava and husband Christopher Juarez, and Christian Rubalcava and future daughter in law Krystal Lawson, Viany Ochoa and husband Jesus Landazuri; and grandson, Michael Juarez.
Maria was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She always treated everyone with respect and stayed humble. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed reading books (especially about medicine), and listening to the music of The Beatles. She encouraged her children to do well in life and graduate from school since she didn’t have the opportunity to do so in her youth. Immensely proud of her family, Maria, leaves nothing behind but beautiful memories.
