Mackenzie Alexandra Carr, affectionately known as Mac, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on November 10, 2023, at the young age of 20. Born in San Antonio on November 19, 2002, to Greg and Lori Carr, Mac was a light in the lives of all who knew her. From a young age, Mackenzie was independent, ambitious, adventurous, determined, smart, strong, faithful, loyal and true. Mac loved God, her family, friends, and animals. Mackenzie was an outstanding student throughout school, making the National Honor Society in middle and high school, and the Dean’s List in her first year of college. She was also a hard worker, whatever job she was doing. Mackenzie was always excited to travel and explore new places, especially where there were beautiful beaches or mountains. Some of her hobbies were hiking, volleyball, and volunteering at the animal shelter.
Sadly, Mackenzie’s journey was cut short, and she is now reunited with her baby sister, Katherine Carr, her maternal grandmother, Terri Wilson, and her Aunt Andrea De La Garza, who predeceased her. Her spirit, however, lives on in the hearts of those she left behind. Mac is deeply missed by her parents, Greg and Lori Carr; her older sister Taylor Wegert; her older brother Michael Carr; and a host of extended family members and friends who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of Mackenzie’s life will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Road, San Antonio, Texas 78239. On Friday, November 17, 2023 there will be an informal viewing/visitation from 4:00-8:00pm. On Saturday, November 18, 2023 there will be a service at 2:00pm, burial at 3:00pm, and a reception following from 4:00-6:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Bulverde Humane Society in Mackenzie’s memory, a cause close to her heart. Mackenzie’s life, though brief, was a beacon of love, joy, and kindness. She will forever be remembered for her radiant spirit and positive impact on everyone she met.
