Louis Edward James

May 25, 1945 — February 20, 2025

Louis Edward James went to be with our Lord and savior on February 20, 2025, at the age of 79. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on May 25, 1945, he accepted Christ early in life and was baptized at West End Baptist Church. A devoted member of New St. Mark MBC, he served faithfully as an ordained deacon.

He was among the first Black graduates of JMHS San Antonio in 1963 and later attended St. Philip's College. He served in the U. S. military from 1965-1968, earning a Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 60 Device and the National Defense Service Medal. He furthered his education at the Time Management Institute in Chicago and UTSA. His career included employment at Fort Sam Houston, founding his own business, Airway Etc. Inc. and mentoring young athletes as an AAU basketball coach. He retired from Wilford Hall Medical Center in 2000.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Joseph and Thelma Roberts James; Brothers Robert James and Ray Anthony James, sister; Judy Carol Pleasaince. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, TeCora. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his children; Louis Edward James, II, (Chanté), Tarshawn Davila, Taikisha Saathoff (Donald), TyMeseia Walker (Brian), Rhonda James and Roshune Pechacek (John); one brother Jack Elliot James (Kim).

12 grandchildren; Cheyenne Davila Huendo (Francisco), Donnie Saathoff III., Desarae Saathoff, Daniel Saathoff, Dillon Saathoff, Destiny Saathoff, Luke Britton, Camille James, Lincoln James, Jacoby Walker, Alliyah Harris, Nicole Pechacek, his Goddaughter; Breonta Reed, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many beloved friends.
