Leroy Thornburg Jr.

Leroy E. Thornburg, Jr of San Antonio, TX went to be our Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the age of 69 years.  He passed away peacefully with family by his side.  He was born on August 3, 1953, to the late Leroy and Jeneane Thornburg of Pampa, Texas. He was the second oldest of four children.

Growing up, Leroy was very active.  He competed in track and field and was a member of his school’s swim team.  In addition, he assisted with his grandfather’s veterinary practice and helped at his fathers feed lot. He attended West Texas State University and pursued a career that led him to Palacios, Texas where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth.  Leroy and Elizabeth were united in marriage on January 30, 1982.  They soon made their home in San Antonio, Tx where they lived, worked and played.  Most importantly, they had a daughter, Alexis.

Leroy lived out his dream watching his daughter grow, marry and have three children.  He was proud to be given the title of Popo.

Leroy was proceeded in death by his parents, Leroy Thornburg Sr and Joy Jeneane Thornburg.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Thornburg, of 40 years, his daughter Alexis Griffith and her husband John Tyler Griffith and their three children, Noah, Zoey and Wyatt.  In addition, Leroy leaves behind his sister Ann (Joe) Grimes, as well as his brothers Timothy Thornburg and Russell (Beth) Thornburg and numerous brothers, sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.
