Laberta June (Heyer) Pruitt, beloved wife, mother, Granny, and dear friend, passed away on
April 16, 2024 at the age of 91.
On December 15,1932, June was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas where she was raised alongside
her two brothers and extended family. It was here she met the love of her life, Bobby Jack
Pruitt, who she married on October 13,1949. In 1951, they settled their family in San Antonio,
Texas where they raised their two sons, watched their family grow, and built their life together
for 57 years until Bob’s passing in July of 2006.
June enjoyed much in life. She loved the outdoors including camping, fishing, hunting,
gardening, and observing wildlife. She liked to have fun – most especially playing Bingo! She
was a creative hobbyist, enjoying home projects, crocheting, sewing, embroidery, painting, and
crafting. She delighted in teaching others and including them in the activities she enjoyed.
June found her greatest joy in spending time with her family for whom she was very proud and
loved immeasurably. June’s warm and welcoming nature made everyone feel like family. She
was always supportive, encouraging, and sincerely interested in the lives and well-being of
others. She was loving, generous, incredibly thoughtful, and genuinely kindhearted. She will be
greatly missed by us all.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Albert “Pappy” Heyer; her brother,
Darrell Heyer; and her husband, Bobby Jack Pruitt.
She is survived by her son Richard L. Pruitt, Sr. and wife Nancy; and son Kenneth R. Pruitt, Sr.
and wife Rita. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jill L. Glenewinkel, Richard L. Pruitt Jr.,
Martha L. Rodriguez, Kenneth R. Pruitt Jr., Gregory W. Pruitt, and Bryan R. Pruitt. June was
also blessed with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition, she is
