Ms. Julia Mae Irvin, was born on June 10, 1952 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Bennie and Beatrice Griggs. Julia graduated from Boetler High School in Holt, Alabama.
Julia met and married Andrew James Irvin, of this union they shared 3 beautiful children. Andre Irvin, Fatima Williams, and LaTasha Irvin. After their union, Andrew joined the Army and the family began to travel the world. This is where Julia fell in love with traveling, at any given moment, it would not be a surprise to find Julia, in another state or country.
While in Germany, Julia began her Civil Service career. Julia retired from Civil Service as a Program analyst after 32 dedicated years.
While traveling was her love it was not her only passion, you would be hard pressed not to find her in front of the tv on a Saturday during college football season rooting for The University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE) and on Sunday rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
In 2015 Julia was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension, after a long battle fought with dignity, grace and strength, Julia finished her race.
On 15 December, 2023 Julia took her angel’s hand and climbed the stairs to her eternal home.
To know Julia is to know she had a tremendous amount of love for her family and friends, this love is truly the epitome of who she was.
Julia leaves to cherish her memory, her son Andre Irvin (Ofi Irvin), her daughter, Fatima Williams (Bryn Williams), her brother, Bennie Griggs, Jr (Lula Griggs), her two sisters, Annie Holiday, Malinda Wells (Gary Wells). Her grandkids, Taseanya Autry, Jazmine Abbott (Tim Abbott), Jasmine Lisi (Shane Lisi), Dezarae Irvin, Andre Irvin, Jr. Brooklyn Irvin, and Julian Ortiz. Julia has 5 great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, that she loved dearly. Julia’s best friend and travel buddy, Sandra James, will continue to travel the world in her honor and carry her in her heart with each trip.
Julia was preceded in death by her daughter LaTasha Irvin, her parents Bennie and Beatrice Griggs, her brothers, George Parker, Jr, Jimmy Griggs, Sr, and Willie Griggs, and her sister Beatrice Griggs.
There are a host of friends that the family would like to acknowledge and thank you so much for loving Julia and being such an important part of her life.
