Juan Nieto, age 85, of San Antonio, passed away in the late afternoon hours of Wednesday, January 21, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family. Juan was born on June 24, 1934 in Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to the late Canuto Nieto and Crecencia Galvan.
Juan married the love of his life and his best friend, Maria De La Luz Gonzalez, on May 9, 1993 in San Antonio. Together they have spent the last 27 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories.
Juan was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church in San Antonio. He had a passion for gardening and made his living as a master of his trade. Those who knew Juan best will remember his hard work, funny personality and the love he had for his beloved family.
Juan is survived by his wife, Maria, of San Antonio; step-sons, Jose Angel Vasquez, and wife Alta Gracia, of Judson, Arkansas and Josias Vasquez, and wife Betsabe, of Springdale, Arkansas; step-daughters, Yemina Vasquez, and husband Angel Carranzo, of Little Rock, Arkansas and Xochitl Vasquez of San Antonio; brother, Macario Nieto, of San Antonio; sister, Francisca Nieto, of Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and by a host of grandchildren and other relatives and very special friends.
Juan was also preceded in death by one sister, Paula Nieto, and by two brothers, Guillermo Nieto and Eduwijes Nieto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 23, 2020 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday evening at the funeral home with a Rosary service being held at 6:30 P.M.
Juan Nieto, de 85 años, de San Antonio, falleció a última hora de la tarde del miércoles 21 de enero de 2020, en su casa, rodeado de su amada familia. Juan nació el 24 de junio de 1934 en Cerritos, San Luis Potosí, México, hijo de Canuto Nieto y Crecencia Galván.
Juan se casó con el amor de su vida y su mejor amiga, Maria De La Luz González, el 9 de mayo de 1993 en San Antonio. Juntos han pasado los últimos 27 años criando una familia y viviendo toda una vida de recuerdos.
Juan era miembro de la Iglesia Católica St. Thomas More en San Antonio. Le apasionaba la jardinería y se ganaba la vida como maestro de su oficio. Aquellos que conocieron mejor a Juan recordarán su arduo trabajo, su personalidad divertida y el amor que sentía por su amada familia.
A Juan le sobreviven su esposa, María, de San Antonio; hijastros, José Ángel Vásquez, y su esposa Alta Gracia, de Judson, Arkansas y Josias Vásquez, y su esposa Betsabe, de Springdale, Arkansas; hijastras, Yemina Vasquez, y su esposo Angel Carranzo, de Little Rock, Arkansas y Xochitl Vasquez de San Antonio; hermano, Macario Nieto, de San Antonio; hermana, Francisca Nieto, de Cerritos, San Luis Potosí, México; y por una gran cantidad de nietos y otros parientes y amigos muy especiales.
A Juan también le precedieron en la muerte una hermana, Paula Nieto, y dos hermanos, Guillermo Nieto y Eduwijes Nieto.
Una misa de entierro cristiano se llevará a cabo a las 10:00 a.m., sábado 23 de enero de 2020 en Chapel Hill Funeral Home. El entierro seguirá en Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Las visitas se llevarán a cabo de 6:00 a 8:00 p.m., viernes por la noche en la funeraria con un servicio de rosario a las 6:30 p.m.
