Joshua Rodriguez, of San Antonio, Texas is walking in heaven with his older brother Jacob. Gone too soon but God gained another beautiful angel. God took you to heaven after only 15 years of life with us. We mourned over your body for five days as you lay in a coma in the ICU with a serious brain trauma caused by a bullet to the back of your head. A bullet that came through the wall. A bullet that could not be removed.
In the hospital we spoke to you from the bottom of our hearts asking you to forgive our wrongs and the pain we caused you. We told you then and we tell you now how much we love you. We asked God to be with you and to take away your pain and make you whole again.
You will now be walking alongside your older brother Jacob. You were full of life and fun, always playing jokes, bringing smiles to our faces and happiness into our lives. We will never forget how you always looked after your brothers and sisters. All you really wanted was for all of us to be together again. When we think of you we will see you playing basketball and having fun at the park with your friends. We see you listening to rap music and playing Call of Duty and Fortnite with your friends. We cling to our lovely memories of you and to the joy you brought to each of us. You were such a fun loving, loyal kid. There was nothing you would not do for your family. You never gave up on your mom and dad, grandmother and grandfather, brothers and sisters. You loved each of us in such special ways. As a son, brother, grandson, nephew and great grandson we love you and will keep you forever in our hearts.
You had such a big heart, always listening to peoples' problems and helping out as much as you could. You were loved by so many and had a big impact on the lives of those you came across.
Your life was short but full of such power and strength. The strength you leave with us now will allow each of us to be strong for one another. We know you were our guardian angel here on earth and now you will always be watching over us from heaven.
Joshua is survived by his mother, Bianca Matta, stepfather Juan Reyes, father Joshua Rodriguez, his grand parents Rosalinda and Pedro Miranda, Frank Matta and Irma Rodriguez and his great grandmother Mary P. He is missed and loved by his aunts — Ana Salinas, Elvy Matta, Connie Rodriguez and Crystal Rodriguez. His loving brothers and sisters miss him everyday now — Leyland Blue, Vaniti Rose, Fantasy Rain, Ashton JayDen, Emerald Love, Miracle Faith, Amillianna Renee and Genesis Faith. He loved them to the moon and back. He is missed by many other family members and by his friends, most especially James and Jayveon, Charles, Geo and the girlfriend whom he loved, Nyla Williams.
We are thankful for the guidance Joshua received from Shaina West and Mary Kay Delavan. Special thanks to Eleanor Elder (Miss Eli) and for the tender and skilled care he received from the many doctors and nurses at BAMC during the five days after the shooting.
Joshua was only in our family fifteen short and wonderful years but he will forever be in our hearts. As an organ donor, Joshua lives on in each person who received a part of him and a new life. Joshua is forever a blessing to us and to them.
