Jose M. Luna, of Universal City, Texas, passed away November 9, 2015. Born on April 17, 1947, in Sabinal, Texas, he was the son of Pablo H. and Natividad C. Luna. Growing up, Jose and his family would go up to Michigan and work in the fields during the summertime. After he graduated from high school, Jose went to Southwest Texas Junior College and won awards as an outstanding automotive and diesel mechanic. He served in the Army as a diesel mechanic specialist for two years. Having finished his service he returned to Sabinal, gathered his belongings and headed off to Del Mar Technical College in Corpus Christi, where he soon met the love of his life, Lydia L. Saucedo, through his soon-to-be brother in law. They were married on September 2, 1972 at Sacred Heart in Corpus, not knowing that he would be happily married for the rest of his life. They were blessed with their first child, Rosenda N. Luna in 1973 and moved to San Antonio, Texas to begin his career as a Professor of Diesel Mechanics at St. Phillips College Southwest Center. He continued to work as a Diesel mechanic at Superior Tomato & Avacado Co. They were blessed with two more children, Jose Thomas Luna and Mercedes Jo Luna. His life consisted of caring for his family and teaching his family all that life could be. Jose was very well known in San Antonio. His children remember walking into a room with their dad and everyone would stop to say "Hello, Mr. Luna," making them happy and proud to know that their father was a great man who touched all those around him. His hobbies were working on his cars, going to flea markets and car shows, and watching the Cowboys and Spurs games. Our father passed away in the loving arms of his wife and son. Jose was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Pablo Luna, Jesus Luna, Juan C. Luna, Luis Luna and sister Candy Luna. He leaves behind his wife, Lydia L. Luna, son Jose Thomas Luna, daughters Rosenda N. Trevino and spouse Francisco G. Trevino, Mercedes Jo Luna and spouse Ashley Luna, sisters Mary, Estella, and Margaret Luna, and Juanita Lawhn. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Valerie Luna Trevino, grandsons Robert A. Trevino and Paul A. Trevino, and numerous nieces and nephews.
