Early on Monday, September 16th, 2019, Jose Luis Davila, loving son, brother, husband, and father, passed away at the age of 41.
Jose Luis was born on August 29th, 1978 in Seguin, Texas to Jesse Jr. and Yolanda Davila. He graduated from Seguin High School and furthered his education at Texas Lutheran University where he received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and Performance. He was in his 15th year teaching as a band director, influencing hundreds of students throughout his career.
On June 11th, 2005, he married Shellie Creager of Austin, Texas whom he met in college. Together they had two children whom he was very proud of, Sean Dominic (11) and Sophia Gabriella (6). As a family, they enjoyed time together visiting zoos and aquariums and supporting their children’s love and interest in animals. Jose Luis was strong in his faith and actively involved in music ministry at his church, El Buen Pastor, in Seguin. He was very passionate about teaching music and inspiring his students to excel not in just music but also in life through valuable lessons. Spending time on the water fishing with family provided him peace and relaxation. Jose Luis had a servant’s heart. He was always ready and willing to help those in need. We know our Lord and Savior welcomed him with open arms and said “well done my good and faithful servant.”
Jose Luis was proceeded in death by his baby sister, Jessica Gabriella, his paternal grandparents, Rev. Jesus Sr. and Trinidad Davila, his maternal grandparents, Fidencio and Oralia Diaz, and his uncle, Arturo Diaz. He is survived by his wife, Shellie, his son, Sean, his daughter, Sophia, his parents, Jesse Jr. and Yolanda Davila, his brother and sister-in-law, Jesse III and Jenny Davila, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
