Jose Aguilar

March 10, 1919 — August 19, 2016

Jose U. Aguilar of Converse, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 19th, 2016 at the age of 97 years. Born on March 10th, 1919 in Allende, Mexico, he was the son of Pasqual Aguilar and Ruby Ursua. After emigrating to the United States, he joined the United States Army Air Corps and was there at the third landing on the Normandy Beach during the D-day Invasion. It was during this hard-fought war that he earned a Purple Heart, a Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. After the war, he worked for civil service and began a family and a 42 year marriage. He is survived by three sons; Ricardo Aguilar, Antonio Aguilar, and Steve Aguilar; four daughters; Clara A. Berry, Lois Farmer, Julie Gonzalez and Vivian Camarillo. He also leaves behind three brothers; Macario Aguilar, Pasqual Aguilar, Jr., Domingo Aguilar and one sister, Amalia Garcia, ten Grandchildren and eleven Great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., San Antonio, Tx. 78239 on Wednesday August 24th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The funeral, also at Chapel Hill, will be Thursday at 11:00 AM. Interment will also be Thursday at 1:30 PM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
