On July 14, 1951, John Maurice Morris was born at General Hospital in San Francisco, California. At the age of 3 he was adopted by William and Alberta Morris (Uncle and Aunt). John grew up in Richmond, California where he graduated from Gompers High School. He also took business courses at Contra Costa College. John worked at the post office and decided to start a Janitorial business. During this time, John met the mother of his children, Shirley Jowers.
John was highly active in his children’s lives, teaching them business principles by taking them to work with him. Later he met Coach Ken Carter with whom he built a close friendship and business partnership. Serving as the manager of Coach Carter’s Prime Time businesses.
John also mentored many young men. Later John relocated to Marlin, Texas where he worked with Coach Carter. His hobbies included classic cars, singing, dancing, men’s wear, and he could be found dressed in classy attire.
John leaves to cherish his memory five children: Jason Jowers, Shannon Jowers, Talana Somoye, Christopher Jowers, and Donavus Jowers, 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, cousins, and his close friend and business partner, Coach Ken Carter.
