John F. Bass was born in Del Rio, Texas on October 19, 1965 to the late Mary and Andrew Bass Sr., he is the eighth of nine children. John is preceded in death by his brother Andrew Bass Jr., sister Janie Bass-Cobb, and great nephew Andrew J. Bass.
John attended St. James Episcopal School for his elementary years and later the Del Rio Independent Schools. From an early age John loved being outside, climbing trees, swimming in the creek and whatever else he could find to do. It was no surprise when John went to work for the state being a grounds keeper. John was a strong willed individual once his mind was set to do something he accomplished it. John love drawing, also he had a great sense of humor, as well as a large dose of curiosity, he took joy in helping family because family always came first with him. In his free time, John would volunteer in his community. John had a compassionate heart for dogs, Bugsy was his last dog they could not be separated, Bugsy was with John until he went to the nursing home.
If John could speak to us now he would say: I must leave you for a little while, Please do not shed to many tears, but for my sake live on and do all the same things, those special memories of me you will always have they will bring a smile to face, and know that we will see each other again.
John leaves to cherish his memory his siblings Patricia Blanks (Willie), Thurdell Dent (Larry), Edward Bass, Valarie Davis, Charity Denning, 8 nieces, 6 nephews, a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
