Jesus Anaya, of Pecos, TX, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the age of 75.
Jesus was born to parents Jesus E and Felicita Anaya on July 4, 1944. He grew up in Pecos, TX as the eldest of three. He graduated from Pecos High School and joined the United States Air Force, where he served in Personnel until retirement at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Jesus married Hideko Kinjo in 1964 while serving in Okinawa, Japan and remained married for 43 years, leaving Okinawa to live in Topeka, KS and then Converse, TX. Together they devoted their lives to raising six children under conservative traditional values that emphasized working excellently (“Do it right or do it twice”) and persevering through challenge (“The last four letters of American are ‘I CAN’”). Jesus emphasized what being American really means and felt we should never take our freedom for granted. While he may not have agreed with everyone, he was proud to have served in the United States Air Force to defend their right to be able to fearlessly express their beliefs.
Jesus is survived by his sisters, Alicia Guevara and Norma Santiestevan; daughter, Linda Whitesell; son, Jesus Anaya, Jr.; son, John Anaya; son, Philip Anaya; son, William Anaya; and daughter, Dorothy Holloway; fifteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Hideko.
Jesus passed at a hospice facility surrounded by his family and at peace with our Lord. He was cremated at Chapel Hill in Converse, TX and his ashes will be interred at Fort Sam Houston National cemetery on November 22, 2019. There will be no formal ceremonies at his request, and the family is grateful for condolences and prayers, but declines flowers and donations.
