Jennie Lou (King) White was born on September 9, 1940, in Ruffin, NC, to Henry King and Thelma Pickard-King. She was educated thru the Caswell County Public School System. Her Mother passed away when she was nine years old and she was raised by her grandmother, Jennie Blackwell-Pickard.
As a young lady Jennie moved to New Jersey. Her compassion and selflessness were demonstrated by her willingness to relocate to New Jersey. There she met the love of her life, Edward White, a soldier in the U.S. Army. They were married in August 1959 and started their life journey together. From this union, four children were born: Timothy Edward White, Anthony White, Tawana Williams, and Tonya Daniel. As a military family, the Whites lived in New Jersey, California, West Germany, and Georgia. Jennie was the nucleus of the family. She kept them centered and focused on purpose. Also, she made life-long friendships everywhere she went.
Jennie gave her life to Christ under the stewardship of Elder Welton McGee while the family was stationed at Fort Ord, CA. This dedication started a life of ministry and service to the Lord. She was a founding member of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ, Seaside, CA. There she served in various ministries including Coordinator and Youth Church Mother, President of Home and Foreign Missions, CWC, Prayer Warrior Circle, and Women’s Department. Jennie leaves a legacy that will not be forgotten.
While in Seaside, CA Jennie and Edward became Foster Parents. They were instrumental in positively enriching the lives of several children. They received many accolades and awards for their community service and dedication to families.
Jennie moved to San Antonio, TX in 2015. There she was a founding member of Fountain of Praise Church of God in Christ, under the stewardship of her son, Elder Anthony White. While there she served faithfully as the Church Mother.
