James Harvey Hughbanks was born on January 30, 1940, in Kingman, Kansas, to Esther and Royal Hughbanks. Jim graduated from Chapman High School in 1958. He joined the Navy in 1961 and served as a flight medic from the Lexington, which is now on display in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jim married Betty Benfer in 1963 and in 1965 they moved to San Antonio, where they had three children-Paul, Jill and Beth. Jim worked for Standard Industries from 1965-1986.
In 1986 Jim married Edna Christine Forehand and started working for Magnito Diesel Injectors from 1987-2004.
Jim is survived by Chris, his wife of almost 32 years; his brother Steve and wife Debi; children Paul Hughbanks, Jill Sanders and husband, Thomas; Beth Furber and husband, Chris; Lance Lechow and wife, Betsy; and Larry Lechow. Jim is also survived by his grandchildren: Joshua Sanders, Abigail Sanders, Ella Sanders, Madelyn Furber, Spencer Furber, Tara Luke and husband, Steven; Neeley Travis and husband, Charles; Renise Lechow and her husband, Lugo Perez; Jason Blassingame and wife, Lisa; and Katie Busby and husband, Noah; Jordan Valles and David Valles; and Jeremy Gaither and Mark Gaither. Jim had 14 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jerrie Sears.
