We are laying our son, Jalil Andru Stewart-Pryor (JStew) to rest today, Saturday, September 22, 2018. Jalil was born on May 14, 1998 in San Antonio, Texas to Farrah Brooks-Pryor and Gaetonian Stewart. From the early age of six months he was raised by his dad, Windell Pryor and resided with his siblings Devonnah Goodloe, Malik Pryor, and Akeem Pryor. Jalil was the baby for 12 years, until our family grew with the births of Boss and Zaniyah Pryor. He was also a wonderful big brother to Aaquil Hartfield-Stewart, Saayid Stewart, and Ava Stewart. He loved being a big brother to all of his younger siblings. He was always encouraging, supportive, and made sure to always let them know how much he loved them.
Around our house Boss and Niyah started calling him by the nick name “I’ll” so much, that we all started call him that, including Jalil. He always watched TV with them and let them sleep with him when they were scared. He embraced the role as a protector since his cousin, Suvannah Moreno had her first child, Da’Vaughn (Dada) Moreno. Especially when his first niece, our first grandchild, was born, Darrian Pryor. He was so excited that he was at the hospital every day.
He loved his family and friends. Anyone who was close to Jalil knew that he was funny, loved watching movies especially comedies, and if you decided to get into a cutting session with him you were more than likely gonna loose. He could answer any question about sports, so much so, that we nicknamed him the Sports Almanac. He never stayed mad long no matter how much he tried, because tomorrow he would call and tell you how much he loved you, as one of his best friends, Isis, put it. He was an exceptional basketball player that seemed to get better with every inch he grew taller and yes, he was still growing at 20 years old! Jalil had a wonderful spirit and heart that spread love throughout our family and to his friends. Our family is forever broken and we will never be the same without his long lanky arms wrapped around our necks telling us he loved and appreciated us. I pray he will watch over us from heaven.
