Jackie Woolery

March 7, 1941 — January 10, 2021

Jackie Sue Woolery, age 79, of Converse, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 10, 2021, at her home, in the loving care of her husband.  Jackie was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee to the late Hurst Young and Ruth Newberry Voiles.  She graduated from Lenoir City High School where she was Miss Lenoi City her senior year.

Following high school, Jackie attended school to be a secretary, beginning a lifelong career that would see her work in many offices from clerical duties to managing offices and working as the pastor’s secretary.

Jackie married the love of her life, and her best friend, John David Woolery on September 21, 1984 at Brookhollow Baptist Church in DeSoto, Texas.  After meeting in Elizabethton, Tennessee, a brief courtship and a few years of a long-distance relationship, John finally asked Jackie to marry him.  After the wedding, Jackie began following John and his ministries through Texas.  Together they adopted a young son, made more friends than they could ever count and lived a lifetime of memories.  After 36 years of marriage, he survives.

Jackie was a lady who do just about anything.  From clerical work to stepping into the role of teaching the 4th grade, in which she won Teacher of the Year in just her second year, Jackie used the skills she had with people to succeed at all she did.  Jackie was easy to get along with and loved everyone she met.  She had a heart of gold and heart for God that was evident to all who were so privileged to call her a friend. Most recently, Jackie was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Converse where she taught Sunday school and was an intricate part of the fabric that made the church home to so many people.

Jackie leaves behind a legacy of hard work, a heart for everyone and a love for the Lord that will live on in lives of those she knew and loved.

Jackie is survived by her husband, John; one son, David Wayne Woolery, and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Adrianna Woolery, Kyle Davidson, and Vivienne Woolery; sister, Patti Smith; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.

Jackie was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Grace Woolery.
