Israel Garza

Israel G. Garza, Sr., aged 86 years, was called home to be with the Lord on the 5th of November, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born in San Antonio, Texas on the 11th of December, 1929 to Jesus Garza and Esperanza Guerra. Israel worked as a truck driver for River City Produce for many years to provide for his family. He also boxed and loved to tell stories and reminisce with the many gatherings of family and friends he was so fond of. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucia Banda, son Israel Garza, Jr. and wife Veronica, daughters Margie Melendez and husband Antonio, Mary Morales and husband Oscar, Lucie Eckhoff and husband Thomas. He also leaves behind a sister, Gloria Rodriguez, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, November 9th and Thursday, November 10th 2016, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., San Antonio, Tx 78239. Funeral services will be Friday, November 11th at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
