Hortencia Escobar, February 13, 1940 - August 31, 2017 , 77, left her earthly home and was received into her lord and savior's loving arms on August 31, 2017. Hortencia was born in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Hortencia was married to Antonio Escobar for 27 years who passed away December 22, 1992. They had 4 children together, Richard Escobar, Linda Machado, Roger Escobar, Dianne Mendez.
Antonio Escobar was in the U.S Army during their marriage providing many opportunities for travel. Hortencia's fondest memories were her travels through Germany, Italy and Spain.
Hortencia's passions were her Family, spiritual beliefs, traveling, dancing and cooking. She also enjoyed ceramic crafts, and loved listening to music.
Hortencia attended Del Mar College Nursing Program in Corpus Christi, Texas. During her life of service to others, she worked for more than 20 years as a Civil Service Licensed Vocational Nurse, she was selected to attend specialized nursing training in Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington DC in the 1970s.
She was preceded in death by her parents Pablo & Teresa Lopez, her brother Jessie Lopez, her sister Olga Cortez, and her son Roger Escobar.
Hortencia is survived by 5 siblings; Ciprian Flores (Valentin), Eusebio G Lopez (Ursula), Elivra Garcia, Robert G Lopez (Ceclia), Alicia Navarro ( Willie); her son Richard Escobar, and two daughters Linda Machado (Lee), Dianne Mendez (Mike); and 7, grandchildren, Victor, Paul, Teressa, Victoria, Alexandria, Michael, Richard II, and 5 extended grandchildren; Michele, Jackie, Michael, Joseph, Jessica; 4, Great-grandchildren, Liliana, Anthony, Mia and Emily; 2 loving pets, Sammy and Lulu.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 4th 2017 at 5:00 PM with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78239
Mass will be on Tuesday, September 5th 2017, 10AM St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 2829 Ackerman Rd. Kirby, Texas 78219

Followed by Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., San Antonio, TX 78239.
