"My Sweetie" entered the gates of glory to be with his Lord and Saviour on 11/29/2024.
Harold was the last of 5 children born to parents Harold & Leola Sargeant, Sr. on April 4th 1935 in Wetona, Pa. Harold attended a two room community school thru the 8th grade. Then rode the bus to Troy High School where he graduated in 1953. He met Doris while riding that school bus. After graduation he worked for two years on the family farm, later with a contractor, and eventually with Nat'l Homes Mfg. Co in Horseheads, NY. When Doris graduated from High School they married August 19, 1955. On February 14, 1956 Harold enlisted in the USAF which lead to a 32 year career and a life journey.
While on a 3 yr assignment in Japan they met a Missionary to GI's and Harold trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. Life changed quickly for this growing family. They return from Japan in December 1963 to Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas. In the spring of 1966 Harold got orders for England. They bought a home in San Antonio for Doris and their 4 children to live in while Harold went 18 months unaccompanied to England. Harold was discharged February 1968 next serving as a Missionary Hacienda farm manager in Oaxaca, Mexico for another 18 months.
The next 7 years He worked at various civilian jobs. During this time he also returned to AF reserves and eventually got a full time civil service job with the Texas Air Nat'l Guard and retired in 1995.
Harold loved the Lord, his nation, his family and his church family. He was a quiet gentle man whose heart was happiest working behind the scenes serving people with multiple kinds of needs. He served on several different Christian Boards: Child Evangelism Fellowship, Christian Serviceman's Center both local and Nat'l as well and Church Treasurer, Deacon, and choir member.
Harold was proceeded in death by his parents Harold & Leola Sargeant, two brothers Weldon & Gearld, two sisters Jennie & Leora, & 2 great grands, Keira Sargeant-Langhorn and Jackson Berry (both this year). He is survived by his High School sweetheart Doris Irene Edkin Sargeant. They were married for 69 years. One son, Roy & (Rachelle) Sargeant, three daughters Debra & (David) Biddinger, Rebecca Sargeant, and Rachel Berry. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren & 12 great grands. One sister-in-law, JoAnn Mott, nieces, nephews and one cousin.
