After his military retirement, Erwin continued to serve in Law Enforcement for another twenty years. He was a Lieutenant in the Sheriff’s Department of Travis County and served as a Supervisor of Investigations in the Human Resource Department of San Antonio.
A devoted Christian, Erwin was ordained both as a Deacon and a Minister through Kirby Baptist Church where he served faithfully in many capacities including Outreach Director and Training Union Director. He attended countless Vacation Bible Schools, children and youth camps, and backyard Bible clubs as a sponsor. He enjoyed bringing the Word of God through sermons when asked to preach, as well as serving as an evangelist for several revivals.
A man of many talents, his two favorite hobbies were fishing and bowling. He also did some wood-working, enjoyed camping and loved his Judson Rocket football!
Erwin’s legacy of service, through his love for God, his family, and people everywhere, will forever impact those who knew him. His selflessness, humor, and sweet spirit will always be remembered by those of us still waiting for that great reunion in Glory.
