Elsie Bernadette Mahoney, age 85, of San Antonio, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital after numerous complications from Covid-19. Elsie was born on August 6, 1935 in New York, New York to the late Eladio and Concepcion Castro Ichauteguiz. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1953 and quickly began making her way in the world.
Elsie was the proud mother of two baby boys who would stop at nothing to provide. Her career consisted mostly in administration offices. Her infectious personality earned her many friends along life’s path, many of whom she remained in contact long after their professional relationships took other paths. Elsie had a passion for crafting with her hands, especially pottery and ceramics, and later in life she enjoyed spending time at the Kirby Senior Center.
Those who knew Elsie best will remember the love and dedication she had for her beloved sons, Sean and Michael.
Elsie is survived by her two boys, Sean Mahoney, and wife Norma, of Garland and Michael Mahoney of Converse; siblings, Sonia Allen of Connecticut and Raymond Santiago, and wife Joan, of Destin, Florida; grandchildren, Alondra Mahoney and Alexandra Mahoney; one cousin, Haydee of New York; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Adalia.
