Elmer Martin was born on November 17, 1935 in San Angelo, Texas and passed peacefully on October 12, 2024.
Elmer proudly served our country in the Air Force and then later retired from the U.S. Navy in 1986. He also worked for Corpus Christi Army Depot and drove busses for Coach USA, Rockport Tours and Flour Bluff ISD. He gave his life to Christ at the age of 11. He was a member of Waldron Road Baptist Church, involved with scouts and a foster parent to many children. Elmer was a loving, kind, and generous man always looking to lend a helping hand wherever needed.
He was preceeded in death by his father James Thomas Martin, mother Alice Harbin, his five siblings and wife Judy Ann Martin.
Elmer is survived by his Daughter LaWanda Buchanan, son Matthew (Diane) Martin, daughter Toni Martin, and daughter Ashley (Matt) Wishert. Grandchildren- Joe Mike Mcmanes, Amanda Watson, RaeDawn Martin, Katie Weaver, Albert (Elizabeth) Fuentes, Breanna (Johnny) Cantu, Steven Benavides, Caravelle Cuellar and Caraline Cuellar. And many great grand children.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt Thank you to Lidia for caring for Elmer and Judy during their final years of life.
Forever whistling "I'll Fly Away" in our hearts, we will miss you Dad.
