Mrs. Dominga Gutierrez Reyes, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at her home in Bulverde, Comal County, Texas on May 7, 2024 at the age of 103. She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel Reyes: her brothers Augustine Gutierrez, Alejos Gutierrez, Magdaleno Gutierrez, Juan Gutierrez, Luz Gutierrez, Valentino Gutierrez and sister Demencia Gutierrez; her sons Ramon and Rosalio; and son-in-Law Angel Ramirez Huerta Jr...
She is survived by daughters Mary R. Alderete, Yolanda Willliams, Irma Gouthier, Noemi R. Longoria, Rosalinda Huerta; sons Enrique , Armando and Balthazar Reyes; Sister Janie Gomez; step-daughter Janie Feriend; daughters-in-law Geraldine Maynor Reyes and Sarah Contreras Reyes; also, 24 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.
She was born in Fredericksburg, Texas on August 4, 1920 and lived there until her marriage to Manuel Reyes in 1940. Her marriage was the beginning of a close knit and lovable relationship that flourished and developed… throughout her lifetime her family grew, they worked hard and is remembered for her ability to prepare delicious meals with just a few food items and ingredients. After a short period of time, the family outgrew their surroundings and moved to rural Bexar County in search of ranch employment. Their search was successful as their efforts resulted in the family finding residence and work at the Levi Ranch outside of San Antonio, Bexar County Texas. They lived and worked there for many years until the property was sold for housing development.
Grandma Dominga lived a hard but very fulfilling life that was instrumental in the care and development of her children and extended family. No one was deprived of her attention, advice, care and comfort. She is also recognized for her expertise with plants and vegetable gardens.
Although a small and delicate lady, her Native American and Mexican ancestry highlighted her inner strength and wisdom. It was evident that family members would travel long distances to visit with her; to share her love, company and her caring ways.
She was heaven sent, one family member emotionally stated. No doubt, she will be greatly missed, but her mannerism and memory lives on in our hearts. In the last moments of her life she stated to her granddaughter that she bought a black car to visit a church. No doubt, she knew what awaited her last moments.
