Detroit is known for Motown hits and the Ford Motor Company. It is also known as the birthplace of Diane Yvonne Pattyn. She was born August 5th,1945 to Jerome and Edmonda Pattyn. She was the youngest of 5 siblings who have all preceded her in death. She attended Osborne High School in Detroit Michigan, where she would proudly inform you the rapper Eminem also attended. She joined The Women’s Army Corps, in March 1964 as a Army Nurse. During her tour of duty in Germany, she met her #1 man Billy Gene Hankins , he lovingly nicknamed her “Blondie”.During the 1960s interracial marriages were frowned upon but that did not stop her from following her heart. They united in marriage on October 28th 1966 in Germany. The union produced three children Gina, Michelle, and Kayone. After multiple tours of duty they made their home in Kirby, Texas in August of 1979. Diane worked in Occupational Health in San Antonio, TX before retiring from Fort Sam Houston in 2002. In 2005, Diane and Billy moved to Cibolo ,Texas. Diane enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved dogs, Lilly & Cuddles. She loved her Detroit Lions. In fact, ANYTHING Michigan. She would Do for You, Give to You or even Take You where you needed to go, in fact if mom and dad says no, just ask Grandma Diane. We will miss Blondie’s feisty attitude, the flapping of the hand, the shaking of the head, her quick wit, and her joking , loving spirit. She rededicated her life to the Lord in February 2025 Her number #1 man preceeded her in death on August 22, 2012. She is survived by her daughters Gina (Clay Huddleston) Michelle (Tony Lewis) , Kayone (Sheawn Bedford) her grandchildren: Billy, Terrance, Chris, Myles, Zoe, Ashley, Samantha, Tony, Taylor, Kris, Christian, Sheldon, Kaylie, Kaytlin, Caleb, Calen, Linda and her great grandchildren: Bailey, Jalen ,Neveah, Cameron, Aaliyah, Ezra, Malia and a host of extended family and friends. Mother is now with her #1 man and we will truly miss her…until we meet again.
