Delfina Hernandez

Delfina S. Hernandez, age 88, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on January 23, 2021. Delfina was born on December 2, 1932 to Manuel Escobedo and Petra Mares.

Delfina was a cook for the Sacred Heart Civic Center Senior Citizen program. She enjoyed cooking for the seniors and listening to their stories. This was a way for Delfina to honor her mother’s memory because she had also attended the program. In her pass time, Delfina would throw fun parties for her family where everyone would sing karaoke and dance. You could tell she was always the life of the party. Her outgoing personality made it easy for her to sit and talk with anyone, especially her neighbors. When she wasn’t socializing, Delfina would watch black and white Old Western movies; specifically, anything with John Wayne or telenovelas. Delfina was a strict but loving mother who spoiled her grand and greatgrandchildren to no end.

Delfina was preceded in death by her parents, Petra and Manuel Escobedo and her son David Gabriel Hernandez.

Survivors include her son Mario Hernandez Jr. and wife Debbie, her daughter Rosa Maria Montez, her son Gilbert Hernandez and wife Christina, her daughter Patricia Estrada and husband Lupe, her sister Lydia Cevallos, her brother Joe Escobedo and wife Mamie, her sister Rebecca Arredondo, her sister Orie Escobedo, her brother Jesse Escobedo and wife Margie, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many other family and friends who will all miss her dearly.

Visitation Services for Delfina will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 5:00-8:00pm. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 10:00am with Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
