Debra Jupe

February 3, 1952 — January 12, 2020

Debra Denise Pfennig Jupe, born February 3, 1952 to Clarence William and Betty Augusta (Lage) Pfennig in San Antonio, TX, passed away on the evening of January 12, 2020, at home in Cibolo, TX, at the age of 67.

She graduated MacArthur High School in 1970 and attended Southwest Texas State University, for 3 years as an art major.  She was a very creative person who enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts, as well as being gifted in the maths and sciences.  She had a head for numbers which allowed her to work for 32 years as the bookkeeper at Samuel Clemens High School before retiring late 2016.

Family was very important to her.  She loved both of her daughters and all seven of her grandchildren with all her heart, supporting them in all their endeavors.  She spent many years helping to take care of her father’s needs before his passing late in 2018.  She was thrilled when she became an aunt and also remained close to her aunt and her cousin, both from Seguin.

She had many wonderful friends that she’s met throughout her life.  Some through her school years and that she maintained friendships with over the years, a special few that she met through church in a group for single parents, but found more in common than just their marital and parental status, and those that she met through her tenure as the school bookkeeper.  Those who remember her do so with fondness and respect.

She was an avid reader, enjoying cozy mysteries, humor, and anecdotes.  She also enjoyed a good puzzle, primarily with turn-of-the-century Americana scenes.  She was a very articulate person with a wonderfully gifted vocabulary.  Her family and friends remember her kindness, willingness to help others, her intelligence, her creativity, her passion, and her wonderful sense of humor.

She is survived by her two daughters, Amber Jupe and Tiffany Jupe (sp. Nathan Fitzpatrick); her seven grandchildren, Alex Jupe, Cassandre McKey, Kirstyn McKey, Dani McKey, Fiona Fitzpatrick, Maeve Fitzpatrick, and Kelby Fitzpatrick; her two brothers, Dr. David Pfennig (sp. Dr. Karin Pfennig) and Donald Pfennig (sp. Diane Pfennig); her two nieces, Katrina Pfennig and Elsa Pfennig, and several cousins.

A memorial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 31, 2020 at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, 2738 MacArthur View, San Antonio, TX  78217.

She will be missed by all who loved her.
