David Gomez Vargas, 84, of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, passed away on 26 January 2013 in San Antonio, Texas.
David Gomez was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Josefa Vargas de Gomez and Ramon Gomez on 28 June 1928. He immigrated to the United States in 1945 and served in the Merchant Marines for several years. In 1947 he met and married Josefina Vasquez in Brooklyn, New York. After the Merchant Marines, he worked as a stove assembler at Welbilt Stove Company. After working at Welbilt Stove Company, he went to electronics school in New York City and earned a degree as an electronics and television service technician. He worked as an electronics and appliance service technician and supervisor for General Electric for 30 years. He enjoyed being a handyman and tinkering with electronics.
David Gomez is preceded in death by his brother, Ramon Jr. His surviving siblings are Noemi, Manuel, Jose, Nilda, Armida, and Hector.
David is survived by his wife, Josefina Gomez, of San Antonio. his 3 children: David, Liliana, and Benjamin. 5 grandchildren: Richard, Steven, Jennie, Matthew, Sarah and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Road, San Antonio, Texas on 29 January at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Victor Michel and Pastor Lili Gomez Michel of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) officiating.
