Dagmar White

September 20, 1944 — March 12, 2015

Dagmar 'Candi' White passed away on the 12th of March, 2015, after a brief illness. She was born on the 20th of September, 1944 in Ulm, Germany, the daughter of Anthony and Clara Plizga, she married Richard White, an American Serviceman, in 1963, and came with him to the United States. Despite the hardships associated with military life, Candi immersed herself into it by becoming active with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. An avid bowler, she also played shortstop in a Ladies Softball League. In 1977, she began full time work with AFEES, an advocacy group dedicated to ferrets and their owners, and by 1991, Candi had taken in four ferrets of her own. Her studies of the feeding and caring of ferrets had earned Candi numerous accolades from that organization for her work and expertise and remained a life time member of the American Ferret Association. Active in the American Legion, she served two terms as their Sergeant-at-Arms,and was a "PUFL" member. Having given so much to so many, she will be profoundly missed. She is survived by her husband, Richard, her mother, Clara; son David White and grandchildren Jacob and Jessica. A graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd, 2:00 pm, Monday, March 16th 2015. Chaplain Dennis Ducharme will preside.
