Colonel Richard Lee Paschedag (USAF, Ret.), 68, of San Antonio, Texas, died peacefully in his sleep on October 30, 2022. Richard was born on February 18, 1954 in Granite City, IL. An accomplished athlete, Richard graduated from Granite City High School and then earned his undergraduate and Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Richard served for 26 1/2 years on active duty in the United States Air Force.
In addition to being an Air Force War College graduate, he served as Commanding Officer of the 18th Dental Squadron and Deputy Commander of the 18th Medical Group, Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan. After serving as the PACAF Dental Surgeon, he retired at the rank of Colonel in 2006 and continued to practice dentistry until 2020. He was proud of his service and his support to Air Force combat readiness.
Richard was an ocean adventurer who particularly enjoyed scuba diving and fishing. He also enjoyed playing board games and cards with his family and will be remembered for his work ethic and sense of humor.
In addition to his loving wife Misuk, Richard is survived by his mother Bonnie; children Alexis, Jennifer, Christina, Michael, and Michelle; grandchildren Abigail and Carter; brother and sister-in-law Randy and Tina; nieces Jackie and Meagan; and nephew Joshua. He was preceded in death by his first wife Debra, son William, father Jack, and brother Ronald. Funeral services will be held on November 10, 2022, at noon at Chapel Hill Memorial Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. A military burial with honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
