Charles David Timmons, age 62, passed away from natural causes on Saturday, September 28 at his home in San Antonio. David was born to Elmer and Gladys Timmons in Junction City, Kansas on August 26, 1957. He grew up with eleven siblings and cherished his memories of playing sports like basketball, baseball and even running track. As an adult, he enjoyed bowling or playing darts with his brothers Garry, Larry and Rick.
David only ever tuned his radio to Oldies or Classic Rock and could tell you the artist, name and release year of just about every song that played. His fan loyalty towards the Kansas City Chiefs and San Antonio Spurs was unwavering – two sports teams that united his past with present.
David never felt the need for material possessions but staying up to date with all his nieces and nephews, along with weekly conversations with his siblings, was his focus. Family was truly his most prized possession. He preferred the feel of the newspaper in his hand over a keyboard – but, his reluctant smart phone purchase with texting and social media access showed us all just how devoted he was to be staying in touch. He always arrived early to every commitment and the most selfless commitment he made was standing in as a surrogate father to his brother Garry’s two children after Garry’s passing.
David was recently retired and had begun enjoying daily walks at Hardberger Park, always exclaiming great pride in his step count achievements.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Elmer R. Timmons Sr. and Mother Gladys G. Timmons, Brothers’, Joseph Timmons and Garry A. Timmons. He is survived by: Garry K. Timmons and Tarry Parks. Brothers’ Lawrence (Larry)Timmons, Tim Timmons, Phillip Timmons, Tom Timmons and Richard Timmons. Sisters’ Marge Wilburn, Teresa Timmons, Jackie Martindale and Marilyn Timmons. 17 Nieces 'Nephews', 21 Great Nieces ‘Nephews’ and 1 Great-Great Niece.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
